About Our Secretary General - Kewei Gan

Board Member and Secretary General of the Asian American Association of Boston. In his youth, he studied traditional Chinese painting and art appreciation under Fu Xiaoshi and Wu Weishan, and martial arts and archery under martial arts masters Wang Qi and Daoist Master Zhong Yunlong. He is a professional auctioneer and a marketing research analyst.

In 2008, while still a student, he conducted interviews with General Xiang Shouzhi, former Commander of the Nanjing Military Region and founding general of the People’s Republic of China, and General Peng Bo, former Political Commissar of the August First Film Studio, receiving calligraphy works as gifts. That same year, he interviewed Zhang Yuhua, former Party Secretary of Hubei Province and founding Major General, whose deeds and encouragement inspired his commitment to community service.

In 2014, he was awarded the Major General Aleksandr Aleksandrov Medal for Artistic Contribution during cultural activities.

 In 2015, he co-authored the Ministry of Education’s Family Education textbook series in China, serving as an editor on the editorial board, and became the first author to incorporate popular culture into a national-level textbook.

He began volunteering at the Boston Asian American Festival in 2016. 

In August 2021, he became Director of the AAAB Lifestyle Salon and joined the editorial team of Asian American Times. On November 20 of the same year, he helped organize the 11th Asian American Festival Charity Auction Gala. 

In 2022, he served as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the inaugural Asian American Yearbook and hosted an exclusive interview with Boston Mayor Michelle Wu. 

In 2024, he received the U.S. President’s Lifetime Volunteer Service Award from President Biden for his dedication to community service.


亞美會董事,秘書長。少年時期師從傅小石、吴为山,學習國畫及艺术鑒賞;並分別師從武術泰斗王祺先生、鐘雲龍道長等學習國術、骑射。職業拍賣師,Marketing research analyst(市场研究分析师)。

2008年學生時代主持訪談原南京軍區總司令、開國將軍向守志上將,及原八一電影製片廠政委彭渤將軍,並獲其贈送書法作品;同年訪談原湖北省委書記、開國少將張玉華,因其事跡和鼓勵開始關注社區服務。2014年因文化活动获赠亚历山大·亚历山德罗夫少将艺术贡献奖章。2015年參與編寫中國教育部《家庭教育》系列教材、並任職編委會編輯,是首個將流行文化寫入中國國家級教材的作者。2016年開始參與波士頓亞美節,並擔任志願者工作。2021年8月,擔任亞美會生活沙龍主任,並開始參與《亞美報》編輯工作。同年11月20日,協助舉辦第十一屆亞美節慈善拍賣晚宴。2022年擔任首部《亞美年鑒》副總編,並主持對波士頓市長吳彌專訪。2024年因社区服务时长获拜登总统义工奖终身奖。
