About Our President - Klysler Yen

2010 – Co-founded the Asian American Association of Boston, serving as Vice Chairman and official spokesperson. Served as the first Executive President and overall leader of the Asian-American Art Troupe. Chief editor of Asian-American Times and the Asian-American Yearbook. Praised as the “Father of the Asian-American Association.” Led both the Asian-American Art Troupe and the Asian-American Cantonese Cultural Delegation on two visits to Guangdong, jointly staging six performances with local partners for cultural exchange, achieving strong results.


2019–2020 – Alongside educator Dr. Yanping Li and music scholar Dr. Jie Yang, initiated and connected with nearly 100 renowned Chinese and Western musicians and cultural figures to establish the Greater Bay Area Philharmonic Alliance, which was successfully registered in Macau as a non-profit organization.


2020 – Assisted world-renowned seismologist Gu Jicheng in founding the Gu Seismological Forecasting Institute, serving as one of the co-founders and its Financial Supervisor.


Spring 2018 – Climbed Mount Juci in Zhengzhou, Henan, to pay tribute at the Xuanzhen Temple on behalf of the Asian-American Association, honoring the cultural ancestor of the Chinese people, later also paying respects at the Emperor’s Mausoleum.


2015 – Received the U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award (under President Barack Obama).


2014 – Together with Dr. Tianqi Wang, President of the Asian Art Academy, traveled from Xi’an to Zhengding County, Gansu, to research the culture of the Three Sovereigns. Personally composed a sacrificial text, prepared offerings, and—on behalf of the Asian-American Association and in cooperation with local organizations—held a solemn ceremony to pay homage at the Emperor’s Tomb.


1980 – Founded the Boston edition of Sing Tao Daily, producing countless news reports and publishing hundreds of articles and commentaries, serving the community through journalism for 41 years. In 2016, received the U.S. Presidential Volunteer Service Award, becoming the first community member to receive this honor. During this time, established the first community website, which was also the very first website of Sing Tao Daily worldwide. Through this platform, collaborated with friends to promote the digitization of the Chinese language in the community for the first time.


1992 – Founded the Performing Arts Salon, raising funds for about 30 musicians, providing rehearsal space, organizing performances, and dedicating two decades of effort.


Early 1990s – Co-founded the Chinese Calligraphy Association.


1975 – Co-founded the Chinese Martial Arts Research Institute, overseeing administration and publishing. Edited and published martial arts works such as Comprehensive Tai Chi and Fundamentals of Martial Arts Training by his wife, Baochan Mai, and produced 20 accompanying instructional DVD sets. Promoted martial arts culture, participated in pioneering the creation of martial arts theater, and led a martial arts troupe to attend the first International Tai Chi/ Sword Competition in Wuhan (1984) and the International Martial Arts Expo in Shanghai (2000), introducing martial arts theater for the first time. Since 1985, martial arts became an accredited course in the Department of Physical Education at Boston University, where Baochan Mai taught for 17 years until her retirement.



2010 聯合創辦亞美聯誼會,擔任副董事長、對外發言人。首屆執行會長,總領 “亞美藝術團” 。主編《亞美報》及《亞美年鑒》。被譽為亞美會之父。曾帶領 “亞美藝術團”、“亞美會廣府文化訪問團”兩 度訪問廣東,共六次與當地合作夥伴聯合演出,作文化交流,效果良好。


2019-2020 與教育家黎艷萍博士、音樂博士楊捷發動,並奔走聯絡近百中西著名音樂家、文化人,創辦 “大灣區愛樂聯盟”,於澳門成功註冊為非牟利機構。


2020 年協助世界著名地震學家谷繼成創辦“谷氏地震預報所”,為聯合創辦人之一,任財務監督。


2018 年春,登河南鄭州具茨山頂軒玄廟,代表亞美會叩拜華夏人文始祖。及後拜皇帝陵。


2015年獲美國總統 (奧巴馬)年度義工獎。


2014 年與亞洲藝術院院長王天齊博士經西安至甘肅正定縣探討三皇文化事,親撰祭文,備祭品,代表亞美會與當地相關機構,以隆重儀式,拜祭皇帝塚。


1980 開辦《星島日報》波士頓版,編寫新聞無數,發表專文、評論數百篇,以新聞事業服務社區至今 41 年。2016 年獲美國總統義工獎,為社區獲該獎第一人。期間建立社區第一個網站,也是星島日報在全球第一個網站。以網站出發,與友人合作,首次在社區推動中文電腦化。


1992 年領導創辦“演藝沙龍”,為約 30 位音樂人籌募資金,提供排練場地,組織演出,貢獻二十年心力。

90 年代初,聯合創辦“中華書法會”。


1975 聯合創辦“中國武術研究所”掌行政及出版,為太太麥寶嬋著作《綜合太極拳》《武術基本訓練》等,編輯出版武術業書及製作相應配套 DVD 20 套。倡武術文化,參與首創編“武術劇”,領武術團出席 1984 年在武漢舉辦的第一屆國際太極拳/劍比賽,及 2000 年在上海舉行的“國際武術博藍會”,首次介紹“武術劇”。自 1985 年始,武術成為波士頓大學體育系正式具學分課程,麥寶嬋授課十七年直至退休。
